Make Ecuador Your Next Holiday Destination
South America to most people means Brazil, Argenina, Chile and ‘deepest, darkest’ Peru. However, as South America stretches over the Earth’s equator, it’s worth remembering that South America is also where you will find Ecuador, a country well worth a visit.
Ecuador has four climatic regions and is one of the most interesting places on Earth, thick with heritage and natural wonder.
The Galapagos Islands are located a short distance off Ecuador’s coastline. These islands are special, as most people know, for their abundance of wildlife unique to its shores. It was here that Charles Darwin developed his Theory of Evolution and from Man’s perspective there are very few other places on Earth of such historical, spiritual and biological importance.
From Ecuador it is possible to take a boat trip to see the islands with a tour guide, who will take you from island to island, allowing you the opportunity to see as many unique species as possible in their natural environment.
If you would rather be doing something more active, try white-water rafting at Tena, which is in the middle of Ecuador’s rainforest. Speaking of which, where better to see nature at its wildest and most tropical than the Amazon Rainforest. A word to the wise: rainforests are wet. It rains there. As long as you are properly attired this shouldn’t cause a bother. Excursions are available via most major hotels and tour operators.
When you’ve done the Galapagos Islands, Rainforest and white-water rafting, you might be ready for a sit down with a good book and a tropical cocktail. Ecuador offers some truly beautiful beaches, particularly in the North-west near Esmereldas. These beaches are just as gorgeous as any you’d find in the Caribbean but are not as busy with tourists.
Ecuador has something to offer for everyone, from mountains to beaches, rivers to islands and rainforests.
